If you are a returning student and have completed resit exams or retrieval coursework you will be able to enrol after your official results have been released. Visit the Results Service to view your results. If you have received your results and you are eligible to, enrol here.
If there is an outstanding amount due for payment, get in touch with the Revenue office by raising a new enquiry, or make a payment online. If you have made a payment through a third party, e.g. World Pay, WPM, there may be a 4-5 day delay.
Make sure your IT account is active – if you can log into UniLife, then it is. If your account is disabled, further information is available here.

New students:
To access your teaching timetable, you must have set up your USW IT account and completed online enrolment.
Returning students:
Your teaching timetable will be available once you have re-enrolled.
You can access your timetable via the UniLife homepage by selecting ‘Calendar’. , or by going to https://outlook.office.com/calendar/.
Please note, it can take up to 2 working days after enrolment for your timetable to appear in your Outlook calendar.
If you study at a USW campus, your exam timetable for the main period will be published online on the date detailed in the Exam Periods and Key Dates page. Please be aware that the location of your examination is not confirmed until around one working week prior to the exam period.

All results are published via the Results Service. Once your results have been confirmed through Assessment Board, they will be available via the Results Service on set dates. At this point, all results will be available including dissertation and examination marks.
Students studying at Partner Colleges, Partner Organisations or UNICAF should contact their usual course contact.

At the end of each academic year, your results will be processed through an Assessment Board. Following the Assessment Board your results will be released to you. The University sets a number of Results Days following the main Assessment Boards within the Academic Year, which you can find here. Results are normally available at 9.00am on the day of release.
The Library and Study Skills Service provide a range of study support.
You can book study rooms online through Connect2.
Past exam papers, if available, will be shared by your Course team through Blackboard.
New students – If you have applied for Student Finance, you must also log into Blackboard for the first time once enrolled. This will trigger a notification advising us that you are engaging with USW and will allow us to confirm your registration with the Student Loans Company (SLC). You can then expect to receive payment within 4 to 6 working days, depending on who you bank with. Payments will not be released until your course has started.
Please note, your application for Student Finance must have been approved before the University can confirm your registration with the Student Loans Company.
Please check your personal details provided to USW are identical as that provided to SLC; if they are not identical, this will prevent the release of funding. If it has been over 2 weeks since you enrolled and you have received no payment, please contact your relevant student finance body, as they may be awaiting further evidence. A Money and Support Adviser will be happy to assist you.
Returning students - you are only required to be enrolled on your course for the registration confirmation to be sent for your student loans. If your application for a loan has been approved at least four working days before the start date of your course then you should receive the loan in your bank account on the first day of your course. If your application for a loan has not been approved before this it will take three to five working days after confirmation has been sent for you to receive your loan.

There are a number of resources available to help you with money management, however, if you are experiencing significant financial difficulties and are a UK student, you may wish to apply for a Student Support Fund Scheme.
The earliest you’ll have to start repaying your student loan is 6 April, the year after you graduate. Repayments only start once you’ve started earning above a certain salary. This depends on which type of loan you have.
The Student Loan Repayment website can provide more information about the type of loan you have and when repayments will be due.
It is not compulsory to register with a GP (general practitioner) locally, but it is highly recommended.
Should you become unwell or need advice during your time at University, registering with a local general practitioner will ensure you can access care and medication if you need it.

The NHS provides a checklist of the vaccines that are routinely offered to everyone in the UK for free on the NHS and the ages at which they should ideally be given. Please visit the Vaccinations page for more information.
Contraception is free for most people in the UK and is available from your GP surgery, Family Planning Clinics, Sexual Health clinics and some pharmacies. You can read more about the contraceptive options available to help you decide which one will suit you best here.
The University of South Wales takes part in the Condom-Card (C-Card) Scheme. The scheme allows people aged less than 25 years to access free, confidential sexual health advice and free condoms.
Emergency contraception is available free of charge from contraceptive clinics, Sexual Health Clinics, your GP surgery and some pharmacies (for women aged 14-25). To search for local emergency contraception services, visit NHS Direct Wales.
The Mental Wellbeing website is a good place to start. You can find information about the service, self-help resources, urgent help information, and resources to help you manage your mental wellbeing.
If you would like to talk to someone, Wellbeing Advice Appointments are 45-minute sessions conducted in person, via telephone or online.
Student jobs, work experience placements and volunteering opportunities are advertised on CareersConnect, the Careers job site.
In the first instance, please speak to your placement module leader who will be able to offer advice and suggestions and let you know what support is available for you.
USW want to prepare you for the future by including employability elements in every course. We know it’s not all about the qualifications, but about the practical experience needed to understand the industry you’d like to enter as a graduate.

While you are on a placement, you are still a USW student and we will continue to support your academic development and general safeguarding. If you live in the Rhondda Cynon Taff area, you can apply for exemption through the Online Council Tax exemption page
Students living in the Cardiff area will find the relevant details on the Cardiff Council Tax Reductions and Discounts website. Alternatively, contact Connect to Cardiff on 029 2087 2087 or e-mail [email protected] for further information.
Students living in Newport can apply for a dwelling exemption. For more information, see the Council Tax Services section on Newport Council’s website.
Students living elsewhere can access the Government’s Council Tax webpages for further information, or use the Apply for a Council Tax Discount tool of the gov.uk website.
Note: bank letters are not required for online banks.
Home students
Home students can open a bank account using their Student Status Letter, they do not need a separate bank letter. Request a Student Status Letter.
International Students
International students can request a bank letter using this link: Request Bank Letter.
You will be shown a list of bank branches to choose from. Please do not request letters for multiple banks. However, if one bank refuses your application, you may request a new bank letter for a different bank.
International students require a bank letter to open a student bank account. The bank letter confirms the course and year you are enrolled on, the length of the course, the start date and the expected end date of the course. The letter also confirms the home and term address held for you by the University.

USW Partner College Students: please contact your college.
By letting the University know that you have a disability, staff can consider making adjustments to support you during your studies.
If you have a long-term medical condition controlled by medication or mobility/learning difficulties and don’t require support, you should still inform the University. This ensures teaching staff can be informed of any potential issues (however unlikely).
If you feel that you require assistance in class such as note taking, firstly discuss this with a Disability Adviser. If you have already discussed this and have this support recommended, you can contact our support office at [email protected] to arrange this support.
USW Partner College Students: please contact your college.
Exam support and adjustments for exams must be discussed and agreed with a Disability Adviser. This normally occurs before March in preparation for the exams in May.
Once you have met with an Advisor and have provided supporting medical or other documentation, you will receive an Individual Support Plan (ISP) which summarises the support which has been agreed.
You will need to take a copy of your ISP to each exam.
The Disability Service provide mobility and orientation training sessions on campus so you can become familiar with the facilities and the best routes to take.
Designated disabled parking bays are available near the main entrances of many of the buildings and require an official European Blue Parking Permit.
Timetabling and room allocation can also be taken into consideration to make getting around campus easier.
This only applies to Tier 4/Student Route International Students.
International students, who have declared that their primary intention in the UK is to attend a full-time course of study delivered by the University of South Wales, have been sponsored by the University under Tier 4/Student route immigration.
The UKVI (Home Office) requires the University of South Wales, as your Tier 4/Student Route sponsor, to monitor your attendance and engagement with your course. We do this to keep all our students safe, as we must protect our Tier 4/Student Route Sponsor Licence and the immigration status of our Tier 4/Student Route international students.
